The workshop, envisioned for 2 separate 75 minutes morning sessions, will address: The importance of a boards’ role in the reputation and success of a nonprofitBoard performance and the common challenges of boards to provide contextThe roles and responsibilities of nonprofit boardsBest practices of boards who exhibit high performanceHow boards can assess and develop a board development plan that identifies their focus, their structure, the supports and relationships that are needed for successBest practices for recruiting and developing your boardIn addition to the high points, we will also touch on other issues relating to nonprofit boards such as their role in support of fundraising and leave plenty of time for discussion with one another and the facilitator. Lunch will be provided to all participants. Organization directors and board presidents are highly encouraged to attend, however this workshop is open to everyone. Good Advisors and Cindy knows nonprofits and has over a decade of nonprofit governance and strategy experience including development and delivery of many dozens of governance workshops when serving as a key instructor at the Georgia Center for Nonprofits Nonprofit University as well as through Good Advisors. Ms. Cheatham has worked with several foundations including the Healthcare Georgia Foundation, Community Foundation of Greater Atlanta and the Community Foundation of Northeast Georgia as an instructor and as a consultant for a wide variety of nonprofit capacity building projects. Shoals Nonprofit Center will be also be giving away a free day of event space at the Mane Room located in downtown Florence.
