Rents are insane

Rents keep going up but incomes are not keeping up with increases. Currently share an apartment on a month-to-month lease but looking to see what my options are. I tele-work 4 days a week (8am-5pm) but I do need to go into the office one-day a week. I can pay up to $1000/month including utilities but also willing to run errands, in-home-care, cook, and light cleaning in exchange for a place for my cat and me. I am a female, early 40's, work for a government agency, so I have passed an extensive background check. My credit is fair. I have NEVER missed or paid rent late. I have been at my apartment for eight years. Ideally would like to live in Monterey, Marina, Seaside, Salinas, East Garrison, Spreckles or Prundale, since I need to commute to Salinas once a week.
