This workshop is designed to help K-12 educators identify resources and strategies to effectively engage students with primary sources.
We invite you to join us for a professional development workshop facilitated by Providence College’s Prof. Nuria Alonso García and Prof. Theresa Moore. This event will help educators explore how to effectively utilize primary source materials in their classrooms.
The 1st Rhode Island Regiment, an integrated military unit who bravely fought during the American Revolution, will be the foundation for the workshop discussion. Participants will also have the opportunity to apply the content and strategies highlighted in the session to their own practices. Attendees are encouraged to bring classroom lesson plans and/or curriculum modules, relevant to their respective disciplines, to model workshop learnings.
Providence College, the Rhode Island Black Heritage Society and the Rhode Island Historical Society are partnering to host this event.
