LAGUNA BEACH, CA — After the recent uptick in mountain lion and coyote sightings across Orange County, the City of Laguna Beach's Animal Services wants to make sure that residents are fully informed on how to safely coexist with mountain lions, coyotes and other wildlife. The Laguna Beach Animal Services, in partnership with the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, is hosting a "Living with Wildlife" workshop Monday. The workshop comes after officials announced the brief return of male mountain lion "M317," who was seen twice within the city on the morning of May 9, a spokesperson for the City of Laguna Beach said. The tracked mountain lion has been roaming the Aliso Woods Canyon area since April 25. Mission Viejo Animal Services Spokesman Kyle Werner told NBC Los Angeles that mountain lions commonly use green belts to travel safely through territories. "It isn't uncommon for them to pass through semi-residential areas using those green belts," Werner told NBC Los Angeles. "It's usually in the evening, early morning hours, that they're spotted." The "Living with Wildlife" workshop takes place Monday from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Susi Q Community Center.
