How do you see the government getting "more tyrannical"? I don't think it's so much the entire government as just the police. In the old west, the town marshal had to be on good terms with the citizens because he needed them at times to from a posse and he was just a man with a deputy or two pretty far away from much help. As police forces got bigger, they didn't need the citizen support anymore and the police started getting a lot cockier which lead to massive abuse that has been going on for decades. The difference now is cell phones with cameras catch them and they can't get away with lying about it anymore as much. Have you ever read some of the police reports from some of the police shootings that were written before the police knew it was recorded? Total lies. If anyone is coming for your guns, it's the cops and you're probably right not to trust them. There are certainly honest ones but there seems to be an awful lot who enjoy bullying people for fun. I know they have a tough job and see a lot of the worst side of humanity. But treating the good and honest people like criminals isn't going to cut it. Did you ever see the video of the 75 year old man police knocked to the ground and gave a skull fracture to for no reason in Buffalo? https://abcnews.go.com/US/75-year-man-shoved-ground-buffalo-protest-files/story?id=76062143 These stories get all over the media now and it gives every cop in America a black eye with the citizens. Until police clean up their own internal messes, I don't see how it will get any better.
