We are a Brooklyn based band looking for a rhythm guitarist interested in playing classic rock/fusion/metal from 60s-90s. Who we are: We play original songs as well as covers from: Iron Maiden, Dio, Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Metallica, Deep Purple, Judas Priest,Queensryche, Pantera, System of a Down, Rage Against the Machine, etc. This is a passion project that has been around for over a decade with a steady lineup of lead guitar, bass, drums and vocals. We have a repertoire of over 60 songs at any given time and are always rotating songs in/out. Two years ago, we lost our long-time rhythm guitarist to a health condition and are hoping to fill that void with new energy. We are all experienced musicians with past professional work. We each have full time jobs and/or families and now use this band as a creative outlet. This band is like a second family to us. This may be the right fit for you if: -You are passionate about this style of rock/metal, passionate about the guitar and are looking for a creative outlet. We have no delusions and understand that we are a dinosaur in the music world. Please come with the right attitude and expectations. -You are looking to collaborate and feed off of other musicians with decades of experience with various styles. (We are also looking for someone who we can feed off of and someone who will inspire us.) -You want a place to come hang out, relax, play some good music and have a couple of beers. -You don't take yourself too seriously but you're functional and reliable. No hard drugs or drama. -You're looking to spend no more than the cost of guitar strings and transportation (we operate our own space in park slope with full equipment provided). This may NOT be the right fit for you if: -You are looking for paying gigs or professional work. We have connections to venues and take gigs/shows when a good opportunity comes along but this is NOT our main focus. -You have trouble learning lots of new music or regularly coming to practice. -You are looking to play modern metal or other contemporary styles. We love this stuff but it's not what we play. -You are a transient and not looking to stay in the NYC area for the foreseeable future. What we are looking for: Age: Anything - we currently range from 30s to 60s. Attitude: easy going, down to earth, fun to hang out with, passionate about the music and the instrument. Location: 5 boroughs or reasonably close Commitment: weekly 3hr rehearsal + time to practice. Transportation: Car/Subway (we are near both 9th st stations: G,F, R lines). Experience: Reasonable proficiency on the instrument, ideally 2+ years experience. Must own an electric guitar (we have plenty of amps). Must be able to learn songs quickly and enthusiastically. We are looking for someone who is motivated and will take the initiative to learn the parts over the course of several months. We will provide audio recordings, charts, tabs, sheet music as needed. We can play by ear or discuss music theory - up to you. You will need to have a decent understanding of chord structures, riffs, harmonies and drop D tuning. Above else, you will need a rock solid sense of rhythm and feel; our playing is very old-school raw and far from 'on-the-grid'.
