2022 Tewaaraton Award Ceremony The Year of the Onondaga Thursday June 2, 2022 Reception at 6:00pm Ceremony at 7:30pm Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian Washington, DC The Smithsonian recently moved our region into Medium Community Transition. They will continue to assess data from the CDC so this may change by June 2. But currently the following elevated health and safety measures are in place for the Ceremony. Endorsed by the Mohawk Nation Council of Elders and U.S. Lacrosse, the Tewaaraton Award symbolizes lacrosse’s centuries-old roots in Native American heritage. The Tewaaraton Foundation ensures the integrity and advances the mission of this award. Each year, the Tewaaraton Award celebrates one of the six nations of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy – the Mohawk, Cayuga, Oneida, Onondaga, Seneca and Tuscarora – and presents two scholarships to students of Native American descent.
