Description

An amazing event set up by our WhollyH2O fellows to explore the biodiversity along the beautiful coastline of California in spring 2022! Join Wholly H2O for a super fun bioblitz along the California coast! The California coast has its unique biodiversity and ecosystem in the world, and May is the perfect time of the year to explore and observe the beauty of nature. Dedicated community/citizen scientists have already documented 487 species in the area, with 150 species of birds, MLK Junior Shoreline Center which includes the Ridgway's Rail (Rallus obsoletus), Willet (Tringa semipalmata), Marbled Godwit (Limosa fedoa), and more. During the BioBliz, we'll spend the first 2.5 hours observing any and all living things with your camera or cell phone, and the last 1/2 hour looking at our observations together and making sure they get added to iNaturalist. Join us to learn more about the area in which you live, the watershed, and the ecosystem residents! Pretty simple and it's a ton of fun. Bring family, friends, and snacks and get ready to learn a bunch, share your expertise, and meet your watershed neighbors. Read more about Wholly H2O's BioBlitzes here. The event is sponsored by Wholly H2O.
