Description
A Freedom Day Walk followed by Resource Fair, Wellness Stations, Live Music, and more! AboutThe San Gabriel Valley has long been facing health inequities in the black community. Specifically, African American/Black infant and maternal health is a concern in that public health statistics show a disparity in low-birth weight and pre-term births in the San Gabriel Valley. Toxic stress is part of the problem, along with institutionalized racism and implicit bias as the root causes. Please join the San Gabriel Valley African American Infant and Maternal Mortality (AAIMM) Community Action Team, Black Mental Health Task Force, LA County Parks and Recreation and Supervisorial District 1 in convening to celebrate freedom, bring awareness of the history behind this special day and unite on this Juneteenth. Come celebrate with us! This is a FREE event for the whole family. RSVP'ing here confirms you will receive a Juneteenth shirt. To register for the Freedom Day Walk, please respond YES to the question in the registration. Due to the uneven grounding, the Juneteenth awareness walk may not be accessible to everyone. The resource fair, giveaways and festivities are accessible to all. Please be sure to respond during the registration process if you will be attending the walk or only registering for the Juneteenth shirt and festivities. Please note: There are 6 questions at the end of the registration process that are not required to complete registration but will help us address community interest and tailor future community discussion events.
