Description

Class starts Jun 13, 5-7pm daily. Ages 12-Adult. Max class size 6. Machines provided on a turn basis. Please BYO machine if you have one. This event will be held outdoors on a covered patio. As such, masking is optional. The main goal will be to learn how to 1) sew by hand using running stitch and backstitch, 2) learn to thread and use a sewing machine, and 3) learn different seam finishing techniques such as pressing, pinking, and french seams. Learners who quickly master the basics will move on to advanced techniques such as patchwork, embroidery, applique, and other forms of embellishment depending on student interest. Needles for hand sewing and an ironing station for pressing will be provided. Sewing machines will be available on a turn basis (please bring your own if you have one). Notions and fabric for embellishment will be provided, but please plan to bring at least one yard of your favorite fabric for the body of your first pillowcase. And of course, students will be free to take a break and say hello to the chickens on our homestead.
