Get your house of worship security team trained and certified in de-escalation, and prevent disruptive events from occurring. Course Description This four- hour course provides house of worship security teams and individual volunteers with basic skills to identify and prevent aggressive behavior. Participants will learn to de-escalate potential hostile situations before they occur. The class will specifically address conflict management, understanding verbal and non-verbal communication, and managing hecklers, trespassers, and other types of disruptive behavior. Michael conducted anti-terrorism operations in the United States and Central America while serving as a member of the United States Marine Corps Fleet-Antiterrorism Security Team (FAST); he successfully completed assignments in uniformed services, Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) and criminal intelligence for the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department (MNPD); he served as a Special Response Team (SRT) Area Commander and Vulnerability Assessment Team (VAT) member for the National Nuclear Security Administration’s (NNSA) Federal Protective Forces (FPF); managed and developed physical protection programs for commercial nuclear fuel fabrication and chemical facilities; managed protection details for at-risk persons and their families; and designed and managed physical protection programs for private Christian schools, churches, and Christian camps/retreats. Michael has a Master of Science (MS) Degree in Security and Risk Management; a Certificate in Terrorism Studies from the Centre for the Study of Terrorism and Political Violence, University of St. Andrews and he studied terrorism at Tel Aviv University, Tel Aviv, Israel. Michael is also a 32- year student, practitioner and teacher of modern pistolcraft and self- defense, an educator, and he serves as an adjunct staff member for a large university assigned to teach courses in criminal justice, homeland security and counterterrorism. Michael is the owner and lead consultant for Michael Mann Security Services, an independent security management firm that specializes in providing churches, private schools, and ministries with comprehensive protection strategies. Michael is also on staff at Fellowship Bible Church as the manager of security, leading physical protection operations for campuses located in Brentwood, TN and Franklin, TN.
