Description
TAMPA, FL — The Tampa Police Department and Rise Up for Peace Inc. will host a family fun day event Saturday from noon to 5 p.m. at Al Barnes Park, 2902 N 32nd St., Tampa, with the focus on raising awareness about gun violence in the community. We continue to work towards reducing crime and gun violence in many areas around Tampa.
The grassroots Rise Up for Peace is made up of East Tampa parents and other community members who have had family members die to gun violence.
Rise Up for Peace was founded by residents Patricia Brown and Jacqueline Saddler-Daniels after their own sons were shot and killed. Concerned about the escalating gun violence occurring in Tampa, the women started the organization to end the conspiracy of silence and encourage residents to tell police when they see or hear about a shooting.
Brown said events like this family fun day are designed to get residents together to meet their neighbors and empower people to take back their communities.
For information, contact Brown at [email protected] or 813-526-8666.

There will be speakers, food, a video game bus, vendors providing resources and information, and a chance to grab cash in the money pit, along with gifts and prizes.
