Description

Special Mindful Broward Community of Practice focused on Environmental Justice, Peace, and Action. The Southeast Climate and Energy Network (SCEN) in partnership with Diversity in Aquatics (DIA), AHAM Education Inc. (AHAM) and the SWIMS Foundation has planned a Mindful Beach Clean-up event at the Historic African American Beach, Dr. Von D. Mizell/Eula Johnson Clark State Beach with the focused intention around environmental justice. We are intentionally hosting this event at the first historic black beach in Florida as a day of service and action honoring the legacy of Von D Mizell and Eula Johnson, and reconnecting to mother earth on the heels of Earth Day. This special event is in connection to the weekly Mindful Broward Community of Practice hosted for community members in order to increase regular mindfulness practice for resiliency with an equity and inclusion lens. We will provide various mindfulness/healing practices that will be water-focused, and build a deeper sense of interconnection and appreciation to peoples and spaces in nature across time, while restoring belonging, inclusion, and common humanity among diverse individuals practicing as one community. Broward County students will have the opportunity to practice the afore-mention mindfulness and healing activities, share their experiences, learn how to integrate into their lives, serve in cleaning up beach, and earn volunteer service hours toward their graduation requirements. Must Sign Waiver to attend. Agenda: 8am-830am - meet at Parking lot 1 830- Bridge meditation and land acknowledgement 845- Silent PEACE Walk and Blue Mind Meditation 955- Mindful beach clean up activity End at 12 noon Sign waiver: https://tinyurl.com/mindfulwaiver
