LA GRANGE PARK, IL – La Grange Park firefighters plan to conduct live fire training in buildings behind the Plymouth Place retirement complex this weekend. The structures in question are set for demolition next month. The area is on the east side of the 300 block of North La Grange Road, west of the IHB Railroad and north of Gordon Park in La Grange. In a news release, the La Grange Park Fire Department said it has no plans to substantially burn the buildings, with the fires limited to interior rooms. The fire department said no hazardous materials would be burned. Firefighters from neighboring towns are also expected to take part. The department said no disruption to traffic is expected outside the complex. But it said residents would see a big presence of emergency vehicles. Given the weather forecast, the department said, residents may see smoke or smell the fire.
