Press release from the City of Minnetonka: May 20, 2022 The Minnetonka Police Department has named Sgt. Jason Tait as the 2022 Glen Lake Optimist Officer of the Year. Tait, who currently serves as sergeant of investigations, was recognized for his leadership, initiative and efforts to improve the efficiency of the police department. He recently led the development of a department phone app to provide officers immediate access to crime bulletins, city and community resources, interpreters and more when responding to a call. Tait also coordinates the city's Mobile Field Force Team, serving as a platoon leader and hosting training for the west command mobile field force consortium. He created the department's operation plans for planned demonstrations and took it upon himself to complete the state's emergency management certification program. A former Minnetonka Police Explorer, Tait joined the Minnetonka Police Department as a patrol officer in 2005. He has served numerous roles in his tenure with the department, including school resource officer, police explorer advisor, SWAT team member and field training officer. His colleagues say Tait leads by example with a positive attitude and calm, professional demeanor. Tait will be recognized by the Glen Lake Optimist Club in June. Congratulations, Sgt. Tait!
