HAMDEN, CT — A restaurant was robbed at gunpoint Wednesday night in Hamden, according to police. Police responded to Thai Smile Restaurant, 1505 Dixwell Ave., around 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 23 on the report of an armed robbery, according to Capt. Ronald Smith. Smith said a man entered the restaurant and asked a female employee about menu items. He immediately showed a gun and demanded money from the cash register, according to Smith. After stealing an undisclosed amount of money, the man grabbed the employee "around the neck" and forced her and another employee to the floor, according to Smith. He then left the restaurant through the back door. The suspect is described as a black man, 6-feet tall with a thin build who was wearing a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt, mask and gloves, according to Smith.
