STRATFORD, CT — (Contributed): The Town of Stratford's South End Community Center Summer Soiree enrichment and learning program has once again earned grant funding from Fairfield County's Community Foundation. The $18,000 grant supports staffing and enhanced educational experiences for children aged 5 to 12 participating in the Summer Soiree program and stipends for middle school youths aged 13 to 15 in the Leaders In Training program. "The Summer Soiree program provides fun, educational and recreational activities for children of low and moderate income Stratford families" South End Community Center Program Coordinator Ty Sims said. "The Leaders in Training Program provides hands-on training in career exploration, goal-setting, time-management, First-Aid, and more. The Community Foundation enriches the Soiree with hands-on, interactive learning, and supports our work with middle school youths to help them be prepared for success in high school, work, and higher education." Mayor Laura R. Hoydick said, "Fairfield County's Community Foundation has been a critically important partner for our children's Summer Soiree program for each of the past 10 years, and we extend our sincere gratitude to everyone involved with the foundation. It gives us great joy to be able to provide such a fun, educational program for our children." Fairfield County's Community Foundation's mission and competitive grant program promote philanthropy as a means to create change in Fairfield County, focusing on innovative and collaborative solutions to critical issues impacting the community. Their goal is to close the opportunity gap in Fairfield County by eliminating disparities in income, education, employment, housing, and health. For more information, visit FCCFoundation.org.
