District 93 Republican runoff to be decided May 24
Two candidates in north Fort Worth will face off May 24 in runoff elections to see who will represent the Republican Party in the race for District 93.
The runoff pits candidate Nate Schatzline, a first-time candidate, against former Southlake mayor Laura Hill. In the initial race, Schatzline garnered 43.6% of the vote in the three-way race against Hill, who earned 36.5% of the vote. Coming in third was Fort Worth Councilmember Cary Moon, who had 19.9% of the vote.
District 93 pits a more right-leaning candidate – Schatzline with his support from several area conservatives – against a conservative, but more establishment candidate in Hill, who has support of more traditional Republicans, said Allan Saxe, a political science professor at the University of Texas at Arlington.
