Description

Howard County Executive Calvin Ball and the County's Office of Transportation will host a "Bike to Work Day" event on Friday, May 20th from 4:00 to 6:30 p.m. at Color Burst Park in Columbia. The event will be held in partnership with the Baltimore Metropolitan Council and the Downtown Columbia Partnership and will feature refreshments, giveaways and information on how to make cycling a bigger part of one's transportation, fitness and recreation routine. "Howard County is committed to making it easy for people of all ages and abilities to get around by bicycle, particularly through our BikeHoward program and Complete Streets Policy and Design Manual. To further promote this mode of transportation and fun, I recently shared that my proposed Fiscal Year 2023 capital budget includes a record $8.2 million for bike and pedestrian infrastructure improvements," said Ball. "This Friday, I encourage all who live and/or work in Howard County to hang up their car keys and hop on a bike to help us promote this greener and healthier way to commute." Celebrated the third Friday in May each spring across the nation, "Bike to Work Day" is part of our region's Clean Commute Initiative. Howard County's event will run in tandem with events taking place in Baltimore City and Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Carroll and Harford counties.
