Preakness Stakes 2022: Meet Horses From The 147th Race

BALTIMORE, MD — The top thoroughbreds in horse racing will compete in the second race in the Triple Crown series Saturday at Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore for the 147th Preakness Stakes. Only nine horses are competing in the stakes race, significantly narrowing down the field of 20 that initially ran in the 148th Kentucky Derby. Kentucky Derby winner Rich Strike will be noticeably absent from the race, meaning there will be no Triple Crown winner this year. However, some familiar faces will be in the field, along with some new ones. The race will be less than 2 minutes, but there are several standout horses ready to outpace the others in the 1 3/16 miles to win the $1.5 million purse.
