Press release from San Diego County Sheriff's Department: May 18, 2022 On January 30, 2022 around 3:00 a.m., deputies from the Imperial Beach Sheriff's Substation responded to the east alley located in the 800 block of Georgia Street in Imperial Beach for a report of a shooting. When deputies arrived, they found forty-five-year-old Shelby Dorris Jr. deceased due to a gunshot wound. Shortly after the shooting, Sheriff's Homicide Detectives were able to determine the suspect was thirty-four-year-old Jesus Manuel Rodriguez Jr. A warrant was issued for Rodriguez's arrest. On May 16, the San Diego Regional Fugitive Task Force, in collaboration with Mexican authorities, arrested Rodriguez at the San Ysidro Port of Entry. Rodriguez was booked into the San Diego Central Jail for 187(a)PC – Murder. The circumstances and motivations are still under investigation.
