JOLIET, IL — A 51-year-old Joliet man faces felony charges of aggravated driving under the influence and aggravated driving while license revoked following last week's arrest by Joliet police along North Chicago Street. Gilbert Salazar Jr., who lives in the 1600 block of Glenwood Avenue, was taken away in handcuffs and brought to the Will County Jail.
His criminal complaint states that on May 14, Salazar was driving under the influence of alcohol using a 2005 Dodge truck, and this marks his third DUI violation. Salazar got a previous DUI in 1991 in DuPage County and another in 1992 in Will County.
The second charge indicates that Salazar's license has been revoked or suspended for violations in 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1996 1997, 2002, 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2019 and this "is the defendant's 15th or subsequent violation."
All of Salazar's past offenses happened in Will, Cook and DuPage counties.
A day after his arrest, Salazar was released from the Will County Jail. His bail was initially set at $10,000, jail logs show.
