flagged immediately just for that alone. BUT I love this country, have lived here many years, work, pay taxes, etc etc. I am not and never have considered being, a member of any political party. What still amazes me is that all Americans fear "the Communist threat" almost more than anything else. In Europe, we don't have the same attitude, we don't believe there are reds under the beds etc etc the way that you do here. Yes, we fear Communism but I think we are far more realistic about what the real global threats are than the US folks are, great as this country is. The reason? Knocking "Commies" feeds into the US need to show the world who's boss (IE The US is boss). So it appeals to the lowest common denominator, the lowest basic instinct. IE It's a vote winner. If you're not knocking communism, you're obviously a Commie yourself, right!!! Dear oh dear, this fine country didn't learn anything from the McCarthy witchhunts did it? Cue all the loony hate posts and immediate flagging. But I love this country at least as much if not more than you do.
