Description

Hero is a young male well trained landseer Newfoundland who will be two years old June 30th. The dog is from champion blood lines and both his parents received good OFA elbows, hips, and clear genetic testing. The dog is in perfect health at 126lbs, fully vaccined, microchipped, neutered, and has been fed a raw balanced diet from a young age. We originally got Hero to be a service animal. He has been public access trained so he does well on elevators, escalators, and in new places as well as is very socialized with people, children, and other animals. He is trained to wear shoes to protect his feet, heels on and off leash, knows sit, lay down, stay, come, is housetrained, crate trained, knows how to retrieve dropped items, push handicap buttons, to come to your side in a heel and sit, to nudge, to close doors and drawers, and much, much more. Some of Hero's favorite things to do is swim and water retrieval. We have taken him swimming nearly every day excluding winter months for exercise. He also absolutely loves kids and other dogs to play with. While Newfoundlands drool this guy is a light drooler where it is only noticeable when he receives a desired treat. He does need to be groomed regularly. His energy level is low - moderate so an hour walk/running around is enough to keep this guy happy. Hero did not work for service due to his lack of picking up on medical alerts. We absolutely love this dog and have put a lot of time and money into him... but we really need a dog for service work. We are starting over with another dog and it would be easier on us to find him a new home. We are not in a rush to rehome him and will be picky on the home he goes to. This guy is young with loads of potential. We are asking for a rehoming fee to help recoup some of the costs we put into him. Please email if interested. Thank you.
