Seasoned bhakti-yogi see'king intrepid kirtan fans or musicians ready for the next level - "utkirtan" - kirtan overdrive. frOM w'hat I've seen (with all due respect) today's Kirtan Scene, such as it is, is anemic at best, DOA's more like it. In the early days, kirtans were, as kirtans in India still are, (however subtly) SMOKIN' and ran for hours! Kirtans did not require much, if any, of today's plastic "amplification" as we sang directly to the ubiquitous Elements them's elves. Folks are rarely hip to the notion that BREATHING IN is the Key to the 'jogger's high', the 'enchantment' achieved by chanting out. Anyway, if you dig kirtan ((anywhere frOM traditional hard core acoustic kirtan to sOMething along the lines of sOMe of Kula Shaker's kirtan rock )) and you're up for going beyond yer humble cOM'fort zONE, give a holler, ok?! ok.
