Join us as we partner with the Zoe Freedom Center to address the opioid epidemic happening in the Rappahannock Area. The Zoe Freedom Center’s Mobile Harm Reduction Unit Launch will be held Saturday, June 18th from 9am-12pm in downtown Fredericksburg. Volunteers should meet in front of the Rappahannock Area Celebration with Will Graham office at 641 Prince Edward Street. Those in attendance will be walking around downtown and giving out supplies to people and local businesses. A very brief training will be given to ensure everyone knows what to do with these supplies. Here is a description of this program: The Mobile Harm Reduction Unit Program is meant to directly combat the rising opioid epidemic happening in the Rappahannock area. Within this program, we have a three-prong approach, which is to: reach people in our community through education and awareness, provide supplies directly to those in need of its life-saving ability, and spread the hope and love of Jesus Christ. Through education and awareness, we hope to fight the stigma surrounding addiction in our community. We want to equip and empower as many individuals as possible and businesses with supplies to avert potential overdose situations. Our goal is that every first aid kit would be equipped with necessary supplies in the event of an emergency. We plan to target areas of known opioid use and offer these supplies directly to those who might need it most. Going out into the community will act to reinforce our presence and create relationships to provide resourcing and further help when it’s requested. Through providing these supplies we desire to save someone's life and by creating and cultivating relationships we hope that through prayer, meeting basic needs, and providing further addiction-based support we can keep someone alive long enough to know Jesus and find freedom.
