This evening will feature a reading, a Q&A moderated by Austin Eater’s Nadia Chaudhury, and in collaboration between AARC and AFSSA On Wednesday, June 15th, AARC will host Madhushree Ghosh as she discusses her new book, Khabaar: An Immigrant Journey of Food, Memory, and Family, in conversation with Austin Eater’s Nadia Chaudhury. This evening will feature a reading by the author, as well as an open discussion about food memory, myths surrounding domestic violence, and immigrant identity. Chai and a light assortment of South Asian snacks will be provided. This event a collaboration between AARC and AFSSA. In Person at the AARC, 8401 Cameron Road Austin Texas 78754, from 6:00Pm to 8:00PM. Free and open to all. Due the nature of some of the content, parental guidance is advised. AFSSA advocates will be present throughout the event to provide assistance or a safe space to those who may need it. “Wildy original. Her work has been awarded a Notable Mention in Best American Essays in Food Writing and a Pushcart Prize nomination. She lives in San Diego, California. Nadia Chaudhury is a freelance writer and photographer based in Austin, Texas. She has written for publications like Time Out New York, Eater Austin, Thrillist, and others. Her photographs have appeared in Texas Monthly, Cosmopolitan, Spin, Time Out New York, Radio.com, among others. Asian Family Support Services of Austin, or AFSSA (formerly SAHELI) is a nonprofit organization based in Austin, Texas, that provides assistance to Asian and other immigrant families dealing with domestic violence, sexual assault and trafficking.
