Adults 18 & Up Homesteading is the art of creating sustenance in your own backyard and home, including growing and preserving food and sustainable land management. Learn how to get started or ask questions of our experts. Chase T. Brooke, the Collin County Agriculture and Natural Resources Extension Agent with Texas A&M AgriLife Extension. will cover the unique challenges and opportunities that urban homesteading can bring, with specific focuses on keeping chickens, managing a garden, and rainwater catchment for irrigation among others. Gretchen Tschetter, the 2022 Collin County Honey Bee Queen, will then give an introduction to beekeeping, complete with an observation hive.
