BROOKLYN, NY — A teen who jumped the turnstile in a Brooklyn subway station was robbed by two men posing as police, according to the NYPD.
Two men stopped the 15-year-old after he jumped the turnstile at the R train station at 53rd Street and Fourth Avenue on April 26 about 9 p.m., police said.
The teen believed the two men were cops as they searched his pockets, took out his cash, headphones and a cellphone, according to the NYPD.
Police video shows one of the men holding the teen's arms behind his back while searching his pockets.
The men eventually gave the teenager back the cash and headphones, but made him unlock his cellphone before running off with the $1,300 device, according to the NYPD.
No one was hurt during the robbery, police said.
The incident occurred about a month after a gunman opened fire in a nearby Sunset Park station, shooting 10 people and prompting the city to double down on subway policing, with a focus on fare evasion.
