WALPOLE, MA – The Town of Walpole is pleased to announce it has been selected toparticipate in the 2022-2024 Community First Partnership offered by the Sponsors of MassSave. The Town of Walpole, working in collaboration with the Town of Norwood and the Town ofSharon, is one of 30 communities selected to participate in this new initiative. Walpole will work with local Mass Save sponsor, Eversource, to provide cost-saving energyefficiency solutions to residents, small businesses, houses of worship and local nonprofits.There will be a particular emphasis on reaching renters and landlords, non-Englishspeaking/Limited English Proficiency residents, low-to-moderate income households and smallbusinesses. Together we can further our community's commitment to equity and sustainability. Participants will receive a no-cost energy assessment to identify energy-saving opportunities,such as insulation and heating and cooling equipment upgrades. Through this excitingpartnership, the Mass Save Sponsors offer up to 100% off the cost of approved upgrades.Participants can also receive a variety of no-cost energy-saving products such as water savingdevices and programmable thermostats. Walpole's goals include:● 52 insulation upgrades● 20 high-efficiency heating and cooling equipment upgrades● 20 small business energy assessments "This partnership will provide direct outreach to residents and business owners in Walpole,helping them reduce their utility bills and their energy usage," said Town Energy Manager DavidRuggiero. "Walpole's Green Communities designation has made Walpole more aware of thefunding opportunities for programs like this, allowing us to expand our energy efficiency focusfrom municipal buildings to residential and business energy reduction." As a Community Partner Team, Walpole, Norwood, and Sharon are eligible for up to $35,000 infunding each year for three years to support these projects, as well as marketing and technicalsupport from the Mass Save sponsors.
