SHADY HILLS, FL — Friday is National Rescue Dog Day and it just so happens that Axel is in need of rescuing. Note the 8-week-old puppy's eyes — one is brown and one is blue. He's available for adoption at the Humane Society of Pasco County, 14949 Harmon Drive, Shady Hills. Axel's adoption fee is $250 with cash, check or credit card accepted ($10 processing fee for credit card payment). Meet and greets with kids and other dogs in the family are required before adopting to ensure that everyone gets along. If you rent, you must verify with your landlord that dogs are allowed and the breed or size restrictions, if any. The shelter is open for adoptions Thursday through Saturday from noon to 4 p.m.
