Description

LARGO, FL — Adopt a dog from the SPCA Tampa Bay Friday, May 20, to Sunday, May 22, and BayFirst Bank will pay the adoption fee. As part of National Rescue Dog Day on Friday, BayFirst (formerly known as First Home Bank) will pay adoption fees for dogs adopted from SPCA Tampa Bay, 9099 130th Ave. N., Largo, Friday through Sunday. SPCA Tampa Bay currently has more than 40 adoptable dogs in need of homes. Adoption fees vary, depending on the dog, from $175 to $1,000. BayFirst will also be at the SPCA Tampa Bay For-All Shelter in Largo Friday with incentives for adopters, including a limited amount of $25 gift cards to PetSmart. If adopters already have a dog in the household, they're encouraged to bring them along for a meet-and-greet with the adoptable dog. SPCA Tampa Bay staff will assist with the introduction of the dogs. The adoption team focuses on matching families with a dog and other pets for long-term success. The dog adoption event does not include puppies 6 months or younger and there is an adoption limit of one dog per household. Past fee-waived adoption events have helped animals find new homes in only a few days, which frees resources for the SPCA Tampa Bay to provide care and shelter for other animals. SPCA Tampa Bay cares for more than 7,000 animals each year including wildlife. The shelter is open from 1 to 6 p.m. and from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. View adoptable dogs here or come to the shelter in Largo. Potential adopters are encouraged to come early because wait times can be long.
