Description
WESTPORT, CT — Guilford resident Ellis Tibere, the now 20-year-old accused of stabbing a woman in a Westport parking lot in January 2020, appeared in court Thursday via video conference, but his defense attorney John Gulash did not.
As a result of Gulash's absence — he was representing other clients in unrelated court cases — Judge John Blawie continued Tibere's case to June 29. That hearing will be in-person in Stamford Superior Court.

Police said he did not know the victim, who is a Greenwich resident, and who lost a significant amount of blood and suffered a serious leg injury in the attack.
Following his arrest, Tibere initially was released on bond, but spent time at the Whiting Forensic Hospital in Middletown under evaluation.
After being released from Whiting, Tibere was back at home when he removed the GPS monitoring device on his ankle, which led to another arrest in December 2020. He has been in custody since then, and has been found to be competent to stand trial.
