MANHATTAN BEACH, CA — If President Donald J. Trump signs the COVID relief package approved by Congress, the Manhattan Beach Unified School District would receive around $462,220, according to EdSource.org. The package would also bring California $6.8 billion of the $54.9 billion that Congress approved Dec. 21 in COVID-19 relief funding for K-12 schools. Ninety percent of the funding will be distributed based on how much a school district or charter school receives in Title I funding. Because Title I is tied to the number of low-income children in a district, the amounts will vary considerably. Gov. Gavin Newsom has discretion over how to allot the remaining 10 percent to K-12 schools.
