GREEN BAY, WI — One lucky family recently welcomed a brand new Baby Girl. Baby Girl, a dog whose plight went viral after she was found tied to a fire hydrant in Green Bay, was adopted last week, according to the Wisconsin Humane Society. "Baby Girl was made available for adoption today and had a few folks eagerly waiting to meet her right when we opened," the humane society said Thursday in a Facebook update. "She has officially found a new home." The 6-year-old mixed-breed dog was left tied to a hydrant with her favorite food and toys, after her previous owner, who was living on the street and undergoing chemotherapy, determined she was unable to care for Baby Girl, Action 2 News reported. "The international response to this pup's story has been overwhelming, and the outpouring of kindness for her previous owner has truly filled our hearts to the brim," the humane society said on Facebook. "We have been in contact with the previous owner, and were grateful for the chance to connect with her, and honor her wishes for Baby Girl to find a new home. We passed along supportive resources that have been offered to her from this generous community." Baby Girl is a "wonderful goofball with a heart of gold," according to the humane society, but has been diagnosed with canine diabetes, a sometimes-costly disease that requires daily glucose monitoring, a restricted diet and insulin injections. The humane society asked that potential adopters be able to support her medical needs.
