OLD SAYBROOK, CT — A criminal investigation is underway in an Old Saybrook industrial area, according to FOX 61. The investigation is at LabDIRECT LLC, a biochemical supplier located on Center Road West. Connecticut State Police requested the bomb squad to respond to the incident, WTNH News-8 reported. Police said they have been made aware of explosives in the area of Old Saybrook and Westbrook. The road closed Wednesday afternoon and remained closed Thursday morning. The Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) said that there is an ongoing criminal investigation, according to WTNH News-8. The business is closed and there is no threat to the public, according to NBC CT.
