Impaired Dump Truck Driver Arrested In Fatal Glen Burnie Crash: Police

GLEN BURNIE, MD — An impaired dump truck driver from Washington, D.C. was arrested Wednesday after a fatal crash in Glen Burnie, the Maryland State Police announced. Troopers identified the victim as 33-year-old Anthony Filardo of Severna Park. Authorities said the accused driver, 33-year-old Nathaniel Ingram, faces several charges related to vehicular manslaughter and impaired driving. The accident happened just after midnight on the outer loop of Interstate 695 near the ramp for exit 3B onto Maryland Route 2. Ingram was part of an active work zone that closed the exit ramp, a press release said. Investigators think the dump truck went the wrong way up the closed ramp and turned onto the Baltimore Beltway. The truck could not complete the turn, however. Police said Ingram backed the truck up to get enough room to finish the turn. This happened as Filardo approached in a Lexus. The Lexus hit the back tires of the dump truck and came to a rest against the concrete median, troopers said. The dump truck came to a rest on the right shoulder. Medics pronounced Filardo dead on the scene, authorities said. Police said they took Ingram to the Glen Burnie Barrack for processing. Troopers said they consulted with the office of the Anne Arundel County state's attorney and charged Ingram with: Negligent vehicular manslaughterCriminal negligent vehicular manslaughterNegligent vehicular homicide while driving under the influence of alcoholVehicular homicide while driving under the impairment of alcohol Related traffic offenses Ingram is not an employee of the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration. He was working for a subcontractor for Team Cam Services at the time of the crash, the release said. The Linthicum Heights company is the primary contractor for the roadwork. The Maryland State Police Crash Team and the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division are still investigating. The road was closed for about five hours after the wreck, troopers said.
