FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP, N.J.— The Bob's Stores at the Freehold Raceway Mall has announced it will be closing because of other plans for the site by its landlord.
"Bob's Stores has had the pleasure of serving customers for nearly 28 years in Freehold," the company said in a statement from Patti Dinan, head of stores in Connecticut.
The statement said the store has begun a closing sale that will "run its course" for the next several weeks.
"Our landlord has alternate plans for our current location. However, we hope to stay in the marketplace and continue to bring you the brands and deals you love.
"We are aggressively pursuing other locations that we can move to, so please stay tuned for an update on our new location," Dinan said.
Bob's Stores is a Connecticut-based company formed in 1954 by Bob Lapidus. It now has 27 stores throughout the northeast, including others in New Jersey.
At Bob's Stores, there are an average of 20,000 pairs of shoes to choose from in every store. It also specializes in rugged workwear from Carhartt, Dickies and TimberlandPro, with an assortment of hats, shirts, jackets and novelty items with the logos and colors of sports teams, according to the company website.
A spokesperson for the mall was not immediately available.
