Press release from the City of Ankeny: May 16, 2022 On Monday, May 16, 2022, at approximately 11:26 a.m. Ankeny Police went to 910 NE 5th St. in reference to a four-year-old female with a gunshot wound. Ankeny police officers and Ankeny Fire Department personnel went to the residence and began to treat the child's injuries. Ankeny Fire Department Medics transported the girl to a local hospital, where she died due to her injuries. The Ankeny Police Department is investigating the incident. Detectives are talking with family members, neighbors, and witnesses. The Ankeny Police Department asks anyone with information about this case to call our department at (515) 289-5240.
