WHITE SETTLEMENT, TX — The area around a shooting at the entrance gate to the Lockheed Martin facility in White Settlement has been determined to be safe, and the area will open within the next two hours, according to the White Settlement Police department. A man killed himself around 5:35 a.m. Thursday morning outside the entrance gate, and police found a suspicious package in the man's car. A Fort Worth Police Department bomb squad investigated the package and determined it was not an explosive device, police said. The shooting shut down the entrance gate, and traffic into the facility was being directed to Gate 2 on Cherry Lane. Authorities also closed Spur 341 northbound, according to police. Shortly after, police said it was not an active shooter situation and believed to be an isolated incident. The suspect was a man in his 60s, according to FOX 4 Dallas-Fort Worth. The man at the front gate was making "concerning" comments before shooting himself, White Settlement Police Chief Christopher Cook told radio station KRLD. The suspect was "looking for a federal agent," according to radio station WBAP. This story is being updated.
