Description
LOWELL, MA — A Nashua man was released on conditions after an appearance at a Federal Court in Boston. He faces charges of bribery of a public official and distribution of cocaine.
John Noviello was working as a mail carrier for the US Postal Service when he approached a supervisor looking for help redirecting packages containing cocaine or packages from Puerto Rico. In February, Noviello allegedly offered to pay the supervisor $1,750 per kilo and later left $850 in a Dunkin bag in the supervisor's car.
Noviello had bragged to the supervisor that he had done the same scheme with a previous supervisor for 15 years. The supervisor reported Noviello to investigators, who asked him to help with the investigation. In April, under the direction of agents, the supervisor purchased four grams of cocaine from Noviello.
If convicted, Noviello will face 20 years in prison.
