Press release from Greenville County Schools:
May 16, 2022
Greenville County School District is now accepting applications for the Youth Leadership Greenville (YLG) program. Youth Leadership Greenville (YLG) is open to high school juniors in Greenville County Schools. Students apply during their sophomore year to participate in their junior year of high school. The cost to participants is $125 payable upon acceptance into the program. To ensure the protection of instructional time as much as possible, YLG classes are slated to take place on public school holidays, teacher workdays, or in the evenings. Families are required to provide transportation to and from the Greenville County School District Office or nearby locations for each of the sessions that comprise YLG.
The actual class dates will be sent once applicants have been accepted into the program. These classes will introduce YLG class participants to topics such as the history of the greater Greenville area, local human service agencies, Greenville's rich culture of fine and performing arts, the civil and criminal justice systems, educational opportunities, and the role of the local government. The application must be completed in its entirety for the applicant to receive consideration. Please review the application before submitting to ensure that the information is complete and the requested references have been sent.
