Petting Zoo, Race Cars, Free Food At Orland Hills Walmart Re-Opening

ORLAND HILLS, IL — The newly renovated and long anticipated Walmart Supercenter will be re-opening its Orland Hills location Friday, officials from the global chain said. The center will open Friday at 9 a.m. at the 9265 159th Street location. The store was first shut down for remodeling in April of 2018, when Walmart officials pledged an estimated $56 million to remodel 16 stores throughout Illinois. The latest remodels were done overnight. The "Re-Grand Opening" will include a petting zoo, race car display and free products from vendors. A spokeswoman for the store also said Walmart will award grants to local police and fire departments during the ceremony. Inside, customers can expect expanded services and various other improvements including: relocated pharmacy convenient, updated location for online grocery pickupexpanded grocery department with a focus on fresh fruits and vegetables additional checkout lanes new $1 section at the front of the store a Grab & Go Deli section at the front of the store new signage and flooring A spokeswoman told Patch the renovations were made with the intention of protecting customers and staff from COVID-19 exposure and increasing convenience for shoppers. "With summer vacations right around the corner, it's an exciting to be unveiling these improvements that will make shopping at our store easier," said Walmart store manager Jose Ochoa in a press release. "We know our customers will really enjoy our new layout and new products."
