MALVERN —Voters in the borough of Malvern mostly mirrored the voters in all of Pennsylvania in the May primary. The top vote getters for the U.S. Senate in Malvern were Democrat John Fetterman and Republican Dave McCormick in their respective primaries. Fetterman won the Democratic nomination, and McCormick is in a race with Dr. Mehmet Oz, which is too close to call and likely headed for a statewide recount. Malvern had a strong turnout on Tuesday with 35%, or 931, of 2,231 registered voters casting ballots. On Election Day, there was a steady flow of voters at the poll at the Malvern Arts Center in the First Baptist Church. In Chester County, nearly a third of the 374,833 registered voters turned out for the primary.A total of 118,656 residents, or 31% of the registered voters cast ballots in the primary. The race for Democratic candidate for governor was clear cut: Attorney General Josh Shapiro ran unopposed. In the Republican race for governor Bill McSwain won Chester County and Malvern, but statewide Douglas Mastriano was the top vote getter for governor among Republicans, and will run against Shapiro. U.S. Rep. Chrissy Houlahan ran unopposed in the Democratic party for 6th congressional district. Guy Ciarrocchi, 57, of Tredyffrin Township, won a 4-way race for the Republican nomination. Mastriano won statewide and garnered 19,127 in Chester County.
