BERKELEY, CA — UC Berkeley's Law School has announced plans to eliminate tuition for Native American students, Reuters reports. The move, which will impact current and future students, aims to encourage more Native American students to pursue a career in which their demographic is underrepresented, according to the report. Just 0.4 percent of attorneys in the U.S. are Native American, according to the American Bar Association, the report said. Native Americans and Native Alaskans make up a combined 2.9 percent of America's population, CNN reports. Berkeley Law joins Yale and Stanford law schools in eliminating tuition for some underrepresented students, according to the report. Both Yale and Stanford announced they will eliminate tuition for students from low-income families. Read more at Reuters
