DETROIT — Three people were shot Saturday night, including one by officers in a downtown Detroit shootout, police said. All three shooters were taken to a nearby hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Officers said they responded to gunfire in the area of Congress and Brush streets around 11:45 p.m.
When they got there, they found multiple shooters in the area and ducked down to take cover, police said.
While taking cover, police said the officers began firing back in the course of defending themselves and others in the area. In doing so, police said the officers struck one person.
Police said they will review all available body camera / video footage to fully understand the shooting.
"The Department is committed to transparency and will provide updates to the community and media partners when more information is available," police said in a news release.
Officers also found three guns at the scene, police said.
