Handyman / woman, light property management work for free rent

We are a small family run business with an 11-room motel in a safe Beaverdale / Lower Beaver neighborhood of Des Moines (4 miles to downtown). We need a reliable handyman or woman with basic cleaning and maintenance skills, and basic English communication skills to help oversee our small rental property in exchange for a free stay in a 1-bedroom motel room with all utilities paid. Knowledge of Spanish would be a big plus point. Candidates with a petty criminal history will be considered, and we are willing to work with the right person, but people with a history of major drug offenses, violence, or a sexual offense of any kind should not apply. Zero exceptions. This could be an ideal gig for couples where one person primarily helps with the property and another person can have their own full-time job somewhere else. Your Work Will Include (but not limited to): - Cleaning and servicing motel rooms. - Light customer service. - Small maintenance work like fixing things, light plumbing, etc. - Occasionally answering phone calls or attending to customers (helping with room check-in and check-out). - Promptly responding to urgencies or emergencies. - Basic property upkeep like lawn mowing, snow plowing, trash and debris removal. This is a pretty small property. For example, lawn mowing can be finished in 20 to 40 minutes. What You Must Possess: - Reliability and honesty. - Friendly and positive attitude. - Verbal and written English communication skills (Spanish is a plus). - Must have your own transportation, or at least a way to get around with public or other transportation without our help. - Must be able to lift and carry heavy items occasionally. - Must have your own active cellular phone or be reachable via phone at all times. We might be willing to provide a paid cellular phone to the right person. - Must be on-call 24/7 even though you won’t actually be working 24/7. Some days you may only work 1 or 2 hours, and other days you may be required to help day and night, but not constantly or consecutively. For example, you may have to work for 2 hours in the morning, and then 2 or 3 hours at night. So you may have some overnight or early morning work on site (you work where you live). On average, you might be working 30 hours or less per week.
