May 19 - 22, 2022 Nevermore Performance Space, 3411 W. North Avenue, Chicago, 60647 Over the course of four days, the Nevermore Chamber Music Festival reconnects audiences through six concerts of music reflecting on themes of resilience, reemergence, and hope. From May 19th through 22nd, six of Chicago’s top chamber music ensembles — ~Nois, Kaia String Quartet, Black Oak Ensemble, Gaudete Brass Quintet, Fourth Coast Ensemble, and Eighth Blackbird — present inspiring programs with repertoire ranging from well-loved classics to cutting-edge new music. All events take place in the city’s newest performance venue, the Nevermore Performance Space. Located in Humboldt Park, the sleek, minimalist space offer luscious acoustics and an intimate atmosphere. Nevermore was created to provide a versatile space for a wide variety of performances: theatre and music, art shows, meetings, and special events. The festival is led by Co-Artistic Directors Marianne Parker and Amy Wurtz. Parker is a concert pianist dedicated to promoting vibrant music by living composers through solo and collaborative live performance and recording, and event curation. Wurtz is a concert pianist, composer, and a fervent advocate and curator for new music and the community that surrounds and supports it. The two have previously worked together through New Music Chicago, collaborating on the organization’s 15th anniversary celebration in 2020 and Impromptu Fest in 2021, and both serving as the role of president (Wurtz as immediate past-president of NMC and Parker the current president). Parker and Wurtz have also performed as a duo.
