Description
Ground Maintenance Techs are responsible for: * Evaluates building and equipment needs and makes appropriate recommendations for repair or replacement. * Coordinates completion of work orders and requests. * Ensures overall facility maintenance complies with applicable regulations, codes, and/or accreditation standards, and completes preventive maintenance as scheduled. * Supervises work of assigned employees and client work crews, and oversees work performed by outside contractors. * Regularly confers with Program Director, and may serve on committees to coordinate health and safety, and quality improvement programs. * Leads tours of the Center with regulatory and licensing agencies, demonstrating compliance with established rules and regulations. In addition, serves as contact for governmental health and safety agencies (e.g. fire, building codes, etc.) * Other duties as assigned Job Requirements: * High School Diploma or equivalent required. Demonstrated knowledge of electric, plumbing, carpentry, refrigeration and heating trades and HVAC systems; and ability to read and understand schematics and operating manuals * 2-4 years knowledge of equipment repair and installation, preventive maintenance, building operations, and basic construction and renovation * Analytical abilities necessary to plan and prioritize work of others, complete project schedules and cost estimates, monitor compliance with all applicable regulations, standards or contracts and effectively implement solutions to building or equipment problems. * Communication and interpersonal skills necessary to gather and exchange information with variety of staff and regulatory agency personnel; demonstrated ability to resolve conflict and oversee and motivate others. Physical Requirements: * Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to twenty pounds on a daily basis, and up to fifty pounds on a regular basis. * Ability to walk and move about, stoop and bend in tight spaces, and climb (ascend and descend) ladders and scaffolding. * Ability to reach and grab with arms and hands, and manual dexterity to operate hand and power tools with precision. * Ability to maintain balance (body equilibrium) to prevent falling when walking on high or narrow surfaces. * Normal or corrected vision necessary to read reports and closely examine equipment parts and connections, and operating manuals and schematics; and to distinguish colored wires in electrical connections. * Normal hearing in order to detect equipment and motor malfunctions. * Ability to gather and exchange information with others in person.
