The Auburn Colony, Harpswell led by Wendy Van Damme
Please note that this tour is open to PHC members only.
Hugely popular when it premiered in 2021, this guided walk of the historic Auburn Colony off Harpswell Neck Road feels like a trip back in time. This 19th century colony, created by multiple families from Auburn, Maine, who wanted a summer escape to call their own, still serves descendants of those families. A fire destroyed many of the original cottages, but a number were rebuilt. The tour includes the communal dining hall and huge kitchen, recreation areas, staff lodging, and a walk-thru of at least one of the main cottages.
Begins at Auburn Colony Drive, Harpswell Neck Road. Park on the lawn to the left.
Participants meet at starting point; driving directions and parking information provided upon registration. Please check-in with tour leader at least 10 minutes prior to tour time.
Tours are limited to 20 unless otherwise noted. PHC maintains a waiting list for each tour in case of cancellations. Most tours are 75-90 minutes, though tours outside of downtown may go slightly longer. Please dress accordingly for the weather and wear sturdy shoes, sunblock, and/or bug spray as needed.
TICKET SALES END AT 3:30 THE DAY BEFORE THE TOUR. If a tour is sold out, you may add your information to the waitlist and we will contact you if a ticket becomes available.
